Built mainly over a single storey, to accommodate our clients’ needs, Quiet Lodge is predominantly made from timber both visibly and invisibly, inside and out. Sheltering at the forest’s edge, the building opens to the South to make the most of the short and long views through the forest clearing over the immediate and distant landscapes.
The house presents a traditional gable end which evolves, recedes and dissolves into the ground as it approaches the tree line. The timber cladding will be allowed to turn grey over time to enable the house to fade and change in character mirroring the turn of the seasons.
Quiet Lodge is designed towards Passivhaus standards and intended to sit lightly and modestly on the earth.
